About Jennifer
Jennifer Farnham is a Vice President and Operations Manager of Gilbane Building Company’s Southern California Business Unit. In her position, she helps lead the overall operations of the business unit with a focus on exceeding client expectations, close involvement with major projects, learning and development initiatives and championing the firm’s safety program known
as Gilbane Cares.
Ms. Farnham began her construction career in 1992 as a project engineer and quickly moved through the ranks to the position of project and construction manager and eventually to project executive. She has been a valuable member of Gilbane since she joined the company 2000. As a project executive, Jennifer has overseen the construction of major convention centers and public assembly facilities. She is well-versed in the preconstruction, construction, and start-up of complex projects using various construction delivery methods and is an expert in the fields of budget control and and schedule management.
Some of the highlights of Ms. Farnham’s career as a project executive have included construction of the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, a technologically sophisticated multi-purpose sports and entertainment arena with seating for 20,000; California Polytechnic State University’s new Warren J. Baker Center for Science and Mathematics in San Luis Obispo, CA , a 175,000 square foot facility which includes wet and dry laboratory, classroom and office space; University of California, San Diego’s California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology Richard C. Atkinson Hall, a 220,478 square foot project which includes specialized Class 100 research labs, general and public spaces, 800-seat auditorium and administrative
offices; and the Stephen Birch Healthcare Center at SHARP Memorial Hospital in San Diego, CA, which included the multi-phased construction of a 315,621
square foot, seven-story, 334-bed replacement patient tower as well as a 15,000 square foot modernization of the existing hospital.
Ms. Farnham is an active board member of the Downtown San Diego Partnership as well as a Programs Chair and Steering Committee member of the Western Pacific Region Design Build Institute of America San Diego Chapter. In the past, Jennifer has held the positions of Vice President and Treasurer of the Willow Grove Foundation and Secretary of the San Diego Youth Gaelic Athletic Association. She is also affiliated with Associated General Contractors, the North San Diego Business Chamber and ACE Mentoring.
Ms. Farnham holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
