Cynthia Curiel


Cynthia Curiel is sector vice president, Communications, for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, a premier provider of manned and unmanned aircraft, space systems and advanced technologies critical to our nation’s security.

In this role, Curiel is responsible for managing strategic and tactical communication programs that support the sector’s new business captures and for increasing awareness of sector and corporate capabilities among employees, customers, shareholders, the media and the public.

Her primary responsibilities include serving as a company spokesperson; developing strategic communication plans to support and achieve the sector’s goals; directing advertising, including creative development, media planning and placements; managing public relations programs; developing and executing unique programs to keep employees informed of company activities; and overseeing the process of preparing product information for customer approval and release to the public.

Curiel previously served as deputy director of Communications for the former Integrated Systems sector. Prior to that, Curiel served as director of Communications for the former Integrated Systems Western Region. She joined the company in 2000 as manager of Communications for the company’s Unmanned Systems business in San Diego, Calif., where she managed public relations, media relations, advertising, Internet communications and civic affairs for Unmanned Systems programs.

Before joining Northrop Grumman, Curiel managed communications for Navy, missile defense and land combat programs for Raytheon’s missile business. She served as media spokesperson for more than 10 Department of Defense programs, including the Tomahawk Cruise Missile and National Missile Defense. Her background also includes managing marketing communications for Unisyn Technologies and communications at Hughes Missile Systems in San Diego.

Curiel holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and literature (double major) from the University of California, San Diego. She serves on the board of directors at the San Diego North Chamber of Commerce.
